Lionel Messi will start the new season's campaign with his Inter Miami as the Major League Soccer 2024 season is kicking off.
Tonight, the pink-shirted team will host Real Salt Lake.
Inter Miami will begin a new season after the arrival of various mega stars besides Messi like Luis Suárez.
Inter Miami will have the chance to compete for five major trophies. They are MLS Supporters’ Shield, the MLS Cup, the US Open Cup, the CONCACAF Champions League and the Leagues Cup.
Inter Miami head coach Gerardo ‘Tata’ Martino stated after Suárez’s first training session with the team that “they haven’t forgotten how to play together.”
League commissioner Don Garber said that he believes that Inter Miami could still add more superstars to the squad.
Garber told ESPN: “It’s important to remind ourselves and everybody else that having arguably the best player of all time in our league says a lot about where MLS is and how far it’s come over the years."
“And I don’t think Miami is stopping, right? Signing Luis Suárez and putting together a bunch of guys that Leo has played with for so many years, I think is fun. It’s exciting and I think we’re going to see just more energy and lots more attention in year two.”
