Argentine legend Lionel Messi, captain of Inter Miami, has been crowned the winner of the Golden Boot award as the top scorer in this season’s Major League Soccer.

Messi scored a brilliant hat-trick to lead Inter Miami to a dominant 5–2 victory over Nashville in their MLS clash early Sunday morning.

Inter Miami’s goals came through Lionel Messi (hat-trick), Baltasar Rodríguez, and Thiago Segovia, in the 34th, 63rd, 67th, 81st, and 91st minutes.

Nashville’s two goals were scored by Sam Surridge and Jacob Shaffelburg in the 53rd and 45+6 minutes, respectively.

With this performance, Messi raised his season tally to 29 goals, finishing five goals clear of Denis Bouanga of Los Angeles FC and Sam Surridge of Nashville.

This marks the ninth time in his career that Lionel Messi has finished as the top scorer in a domestic league, having achieved the feat with Barcelona in Spain, Paris Saint-Germain in France, and now Inter Miami in the United States.

The Argentine superstar has now topped the scoring charts in 31 different competitions, the highest total in football history.

Remarkably, this is also the 17th consecutive year in which Messi has scored at least one hat-trick, further extending his legendary consistency.
