Media reports have revealed Barcelona’s position regarding the possible return of Argentine star Leo Messi to Camp Nou in the future.
Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano stated that Barcelona president Joan Laporta confirmed that Messi’s return as a player is unrealistic.
He added that Messi still has a contract with Inter Miami. According to Romano, Laporta said that Barcelona work on constructing project for the present and the future.
Few days ago, Messi surprised fans over the weekend with a secret visit to Spotify Camp Nou, which recently underwent extensive renovations.
Messi, who left the club in 2021, shared an emotional message on his social media accounts, saying: “Last night I returned to place that I miss with my soul. A place where I was immensely happy”.
The eight-time Ballon d’Or winner added: “I hope one day I can come back, and not just to say goodbye as a player, as I could never do...”.
Messi’s visit comes as Barcelona fans eagerly anticipate the team’s return to play at their home stadium after a two-year absence.
