Lionel Scaloni has announced the squad for Argentina national team ahead of an international friendly against Guatemala national team during the March international break, with Lionel Messi headlining the list.

The friendly comes after the cancellation of the Finalissima match that was set to bring together the champions of Europe and South America.

Argentina will instead rely on this fixture as part of their preparations for upcoming competitions.

Argentina were drawn into Group H for the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside Algeria national team, Jordan national team, and Austria national team.

The match is scheduled to take place on March 31, with Argentina hosting Guatemala in what will serve as an important test ahead of the World Cup next summer.

The squad, however, will be without Lautaro Martínez, the captain of Inter Milan, who has been ruled out due to injury.

The coaching staff opted to rest the striker to avoid further risk.

The roster features a strong mix of experienced stars and emerging talents. In goal, Emiliano Martínez leads the options, while the defense includes names such as Cristian Romero and Nicolás Otamendi.

In midfield, key figures include Alexis Mac Allister, Enzo Fernández, and Rodrigo De Paul.

The attacking line is spearheaded by Messi, alongside talents such as Julián Álvarez and other promising forwards, as Argentina continue fine tuning their squad ahead of a major international year.
