Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi on Sunday said that football and life will not be the same again once it returns because of the coronavirus pandemic, which took the lives of more than 371,000 victims around the world.

In statements to El Pais newspaper, the 32-year-old said the virus left most of us with doubts about the future of the world.

"Most of us are left with doubts about what the world is going to be like after everything that has happened," Messi said according to the Sun.

"Beyond the confinement and the situation that took us by surprise, many people had a really hard time because this situation affected them in some way, as it happened with all those who lost their family and friends and could not even see them," he added.

The Argentinian legend also noted that the virus created enormous frustration for him.

"I think there were a lot of negative things in this crisis, but there can be nothing worse than losing the people you love the most, that creates enormous frustration for me and seems to me the most unfair thing of all," Messi noted.

Spain has been one of the hardest-hit countries in the pandemic with 27,125 deaths linked to coronavirus from 286,308 confirmed cases.

Meanwhile in Messi's home of Argentina, 528 people were victims of this fatal virus.

It is worth mentioning that the 32-year-old player donated €1 million to help combat the coronavirus pandemic in Spain and his nation Argentina.

Messi donated the money to two hospitals, one in Barcelona and the other in his native Argentina.
