Libya National Army Spokesperson Major General Ahmed Al-Mismari said that the armed forces have strengthened their deployment in an effort to protect Libyan oil facilities.

The Libyan army spokesman said, in statements he gave moments ago, that the militias are trying to implement Erdogan's plan (in reference to Turkish President Reccep Tayib Erdogan) and attack the city of Sirte to reach the oil area, and that it has opened the way for Turkey's direct military intervention in the war-torn country.

Al-Mismari added that the Libyan army is operating in accordance with the Egyptian initiative and has responded to several militia attacks, stressing that the Libyan people are fighting a fateful battle against terrorism and the Turkish invasion, and that the people have made a number of sacrifices for that.

Al-Mismari stressed that Turkish President Erdogan only wants to achieve his interests, which leads Ankara to defy the will of the Libyan people and the international community.

On June 6, Egypt launched an initiative calling for a return to peaceful solutions in Libya, which received widespread international and Arab support.

The Egyptian initiative, called the "Cairo Declaration," included affirming the unity, integrity and independence of Libyan lands, respecting all international efforts and initiatives and relevant Security Council resolutions, and working to restore the Libyan national institutions while defining an appropriate national inclusive mechanism to revive the political track under the auspices of the United Nations.

Despite the Libyan army’s commitment to its international pledges and the cease-fire decision that emanated from the Cairo Declaration, militias loyal to Turkey and Syrian mercenaries are still massing their forces to attack the Libyan army’s concentrations east of Misrata to attack the cities of Sirte and Al-Jufra that the Egyptian President have labelled earlier as red lines for Egypt.
