Mehdi Aghabi, a member of the National Council of Resistance of Iran (NCRI), stated today that the rapid developments unfolding in Iran since the death of the executioner Ali Khamenei and the installation of his son, Mojtaba, as his successor, clearly confirm that the Velayat-e Faqih regime has entered the most dangerous phase of existential erosion in its history. He noted that the attempt to establish a hereditary dictatorship will not save the regime from its inevitable fate.
Aghabi said: "The death of Ali Khamenei on February 28 marked the beginning of the end for absolute religious tyranny. The forced installation of his son, Mojtaba, on March 8 revealed deep fissures within the power structure. Reports indicate a sharp division within the Assembly of Experts, leaving the new leader devoid of any legitimacy even within the regime’s own corridors, turning him into a mere figurehead for a crisis-ridden religious-security mafia."
He added: "While the regime lives in a state of true terror regarding the potential explosion of popular anger, we see it resorting to seven desperate repressive measures. These include the deployment of heavy machine guns at major intersections, issuing direct orders to fire on protesters, and summoning foreign militias to bolster internal suppression. This reflects that the Mullahs' primary obsession is confronting the popular volcano and the Resistance Units that are lying in wait in every corner of Iran's cities."
Aghabi continued: "The ongoing external war, which has drained the regime's military machine and made it increasingly fragile, has accelerated the pace of collapse. Although the Iranian Resistance never gambles on foreign military intervention and relies exclusively on the will of the Iranian people, the reality on the ground confirms that the regime has lost control over its strategic levers of power."
He explained: "The Resistance Units of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI/MEK) have proven to be the actual army within the cities. The coordinated attack by 250 fighters on Khamenei’s headquarters in the heart of Tehran on February 23 is a vivid demonstration of the organized Resistance's ability to strike the head of the snake in its most fortified strongholds, paving the way for a comprehensive uprising to topple what remains of this regime."
Aghabi emphasized: "The only true and viable solution lies in the 10-point plan announced by Mrs. Maryam Rajavi and the formation of the Provisional Government, which aims to transfer sovereignty to the Iranian people through free elections within six months. This democratic alternative is the only guarantee to prevent chaos and achieve stability in Iran and the region, moving away from the dictatorships of both the Shah and the Mullah."
Aghabi concluded: "We call on the international community to end the policy of appeasement and recognize the right of the Iranian people and the Resistance Units to overthrow the brutal Velayat-e Faqih regime. The regime that for years attempted to export crises and wars now faces its historical reckoning. Attempts to reproduce dictatorship will be futile because the Iranian people have decided to move forward toward a democratic, peaceful, and non-nuclear republic."
