Meet Yassin.. Egypt's Youngest Chef.. He is Only 9!

Yassin, a deaf boy, who is only 9, has proven an outstanding level of professioncy, parallal to adults, in cooking, which made his story going viral on social media, and get named as 'Egypt's Youngest Chef'.

Speaking in an interview with Al-Arabiya news network, Yassin's parents said that they could never imagine that their kid would get such amount of praise and admiration by people, given his special need.

Yassin's mom, Mona Shoukry, said that her kid has a special rare case, which physicians agreed to have no cure, and that Cochlear implant would be of no impact.

"This was a real shock to us," she said. The parents moved between cities and governorates to see as many physicians as possible. They left their home in Dakahlia governorate and headed to Cairo before relocating once again in Alexandria. 4 years later, the kid underwent a successsful Cochlear implant, after which he had to go through a lengthy process of  gaining converstaional skills.

On her side, the mother obtained a Diploma in General Conversation, and another in Educational Difficulties, and she is currently woking on her MA on 'Specail Education and Deafness', and in all ways, wishing to get her kid an inspiring and honrable model in the society.

The mother recalled her kid's love to enter the kitchen and that he could learn there few words. "He is keen to cook meals by himself and also very amazing desserts," she added.

She said: "He surprised me at once, when he asked me to take photos for him while he was making pizza, as he was imitating the chefs on Tv… He liked it to much that I have made a fan page for him on facebook with the name 'Chef Yassin Mahmous', now is followed by thousands.

Yassin's parents' belief in him and their insistence on fighting for him and overcoming all difficulties for a better future for him paid off, as their little kid was honored on more than one occasion for his participation and interaction. He is expected to be honored a few days later as "the most influential figure in Demiat governorate."

The young chef excels in preparing pastries such as pizza, waffles, and cakes. He met the most famous chef in Egypt, "Chef Hassan" who called him "the youngest chef in Egypt".

Besides cooking, Yassin dreams of studying the sciences of "the robot industry". He dreams of attending a youth conference and meeting President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and inspiring young people with his experience and belief that "there is no impossible."

On her part, his mother wishes the state to place more attention to the cases of children with hearing impairments. She also confirms that she will continue working to raise awareness of how to deal with cases of hearing disabilities and the rights of the deaf people in the Egyptian society.
