On Friday, Egypt's tennis star Mayar Sherif was eliminated from the 2025 Nordea Open Tennis Tournament.
Currently taking place in Sweden, the tournament is considered a part of the WTA 125 event series.
Sherif was defeated 2-1 in the semi-finals by Poland’s Katarzyna Kawa, No. 132 seed in the WTA rankings.
Sherif had qualified for the semi-finals after defeating Latvia’s Darja Semenistaja, No. 128 seed, in the quarter-finals.
Previously, Sherif was eliminated from Wimbledon in the first round, following a straight-sets loss (2–0) to world No. 7 seed Mirra Andreeva.
