Portuguese midfielder Matheus Fernandes is reportedly close to completing a transfer to Manchester United during the ongoing summer transfer window, according to English media reports.

The 21-year-old West Ham United player has emerged as one of Manchester United’s key targets, with negotiations said to be at an advanced stage.

British newspaper Daily Mail reported that an agreement between the two clubs is nearing completion, in a deal that could be worth up to £70 million, with an additional £5 million in performance-related bonuses.

According to the report, personal terms between Fernandes and Manchester United have already been fully agreed.

The midfielder only joined West Ham last summer from Southampton, but the club’s financial situation following relegation has reportedly pushed them toward a potential sale to balance their books.

Fernandes has attracted interest from several top European clubs due to his rapid development and versatility in midfield, making him one of the most sought-after young players in the market this summer.

Meanwhile, West Ham are also reportedly exploring other transfer options as they prepare for possible departures. Egyptian international Emam Ashour has been linked with the London club, with British media suggesting he is among the players being considered as potential reinforcements.

The club is expected to undergo significant squad changes ahead of next season, as manager Nuno Espírito Santo looks to rebuild the team and push for a quick return to the Premier League.
