Real Madrid have announced on Monday that the Whites' left-back Marcelo has been ruled out of Real Betis' encounter in La Liga after suffering some back discomfort.

Betis are set to host Madrid tonight in the third round of the Spanish League.

In a statement, Madrid said that the Brazilian international has not travelled with the team due to his injury.

"Marcelo has not travelled with the Real Madrid squad to Seville for tonight's LaLiga Matchday 3 meeting with Betis," Madrid said in a statement.

"The Brazilian was included in the 22-man squad named by Zinedine Zidane for the game but has been withdrawn at the last minute after feeling discomfort in his back," it added.
