Liverpool and Senegal star forward, Sadio Mane, revealed what he told Reds teammate Mohamed Salah after beating him in the 2021 AFCON final.

After losing the 2019 AFCON title to Algeria, Senegal secured their first ever continental trophy last February.

Mane, who lost the final three years prior, was determined to not let this trophy slip away against Mohamed Salah’s Egypt.

Mane did exactly so by scoring the winning penalty in the penalty shootouts, after missing from the spot during the game.

After the final whistle Mane was seen consoling his Liverpool teammate Mohamed Salah, who lost the second AFCON final of his career.

Speaking to French news outlet l’Equipe, the 29-year-old revealed what he told Salah to try and console him.

“After we won the title, it was clear to me that he was very disappointed, I didn’t want to leave him like this,” Mane said.
