Manchester United secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Chelsea on Saturday night at Old Trafford, in matchday 5 of the Premier League.

Captain Bruno Fernandes opened the scoring for the Red Devils in the 14th minute, before Brazilian midfielder Casemiro doubled the lead in the 37th.

Chelsea pulled one back through Trevoh Chalobah in the 80th minute, but United held on to seal the win.

The match was filled with drama from the start, as Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sánchez was sent off just five minutes in. United were also reduced to ten men after Casemiro received a red card in stoppage time of the first half.

Fernandes’ opener carried historic weight, marking his 100th goal for United across all competitions, achieved on his 200th Premier League appearance.

United entered the game under pressure, following a disappointing run of results, including a 3-0 derby defeat to Manchester City last week at the Etihad.

The victory lifts them to ninth in the table with seven points from five games (two wins, one draw, two losses).

Chelsea, meanwhile, sit sixth with eight points, having won two, drawn two, and lost one, scoring 10 goals and conceding five.

Liverpool remain top of the Premier League with a perfect record of five wins from five, netting 11 goals and conceding just four.
