Manchester United have officially secured qualification for the UEFA Champions League (2026–2027 season) following a thrilling 3–2 victory over Liverpool at Old Trafford in round 35 of the Premier League.
The win guarantees the Red Devils a top-five finish, which is enough to secure a Champions League spot under the current competition format.
It also marks a major comeback for the club, which failed to qualify for any European competition this season after finishing a disappointing 15th last year.
Under manager Michael Carrick, United have shown significant improvement in consistency and attacking output, climbing to third place in the standings with 64 points.
They now hold a comfortable 12-point gap over sixth-placed Bournemouth with only three matches remaining, making their qualification mathematically certain.
The victory over Liverpool was not only crucial in terms of points but also symbolic, reflecting United’s resurgence against one of their biggest rivals.
This will be Manchester United’s first appearance in the Champions League since the 2023–2024 season, when they were eliminated in the group stage after finishing bottom of their group. Historically, the club has won the tournament three times, with their most recent triumph coming in 2008.
