Manchester City FC announced that its midfielder Ilkay Gundogan, has tested positive for COVID-19.
The club revealed, through its official website that Gundogan will undergo a 10-day period of self-isolation in accordance with Premier League and UK Government protocol on quarantine .
"Everyone at the Club wishes Ilkay a speedy recovery", the statement added.
Gundogan's infection came before City's match, today, with Wolverhampton in the second round of the English Premier League.
The 29-year-old German player participated in 31 Premier League matches last season and 9 Champions League matches, as he is one of the key elements in City coach Pep Guardiola's squad.
He joined Man. City from Dortmund in the summer of 2016.
