Manchester City delivered a dominant performance to thrash Liverpool 4-0 in the quarter-finals of the FA Cup 2025–26, securing a place in the semi-finals.
Liverpool arrived at the Etihad hoping to salvage a difficult domestic season, having already exited the League Cup and fallen out of contention in the Premier League title race.
However, they were outclassed by a relentless City side.
Erling Haaland was the standout performer, scoring a hat-trick with goals in the 39th minute, first-half stoppage time, and the 57th minute. Antoine Semenyo added a fourth goal shortly after the break to put the result beyond doubt.
Liverpool had a chance to reduce the deficit when they were awarded a penalty in the 64th minute, but Mohamed Salah failed to convert, missing an opportunity to make an impact in what is expected to be his final appearance against City in a Liverpool shirt following his announced departure at the end of the season.
The emphatic win keeps Manchester City on track for a potential domestic double, having recently lifted the League Cup with a victory over Arsenal.
