Malaysian King Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah was admitted to the hospital for treatment of his leg, on Sunday.
According to a statement made by Ahmad Fadil Shamsuddin, Comptroller of the Royal Household of Istana Negara, the monarch was feeling leg pain, but his general health was good and there was no reason to be concerned.
However, because of the king's hospitalisation, programmes involving him that were scheduled for yesterday and in the near future have been rescheduled, according to the statement.
"Once treatment is concluded, His Majesty is expected to return to the Istana Negara to recuperate," Ahmad Fadil said.
The king had been admitted to the royal ward of Malaysia's National Heart Institute (IJN) for a health check-up and follow-up therapy in January 2022.
This was in relation to an intervention treatment for the king's knee and ankle joints that he underwent at the same hospital in September 2021.
