Immigration Minister Nabila Makram met some Egyptian expatriates at Church of Virgin Mary & St. Athanasius in Mississauga of Canada.
The meeting was attended by Egypt’s Ambassador to Canada Ahmed Abu Zeid and Consul General of Egypt in Montreal, Hossam Muharram as well as bishops.
This came on the sidelines of Makram’s participation in the activities of the month of Egyptian civilization celebration in Canada.
This also falls within a framework of the success of the Egyptian community in acquainting the Canadian society with Egypt’s history and Ontario parliament's announcement of celebrating the month of July as the month for Egypt’s civilization and heritage.
Makram expressed her happiness for the successes and efforts exerted by the Egyptian community in Canada including raising the Egyptian flag on the Ontario parliament for making the month of July to celebrate Egypt’s civilization and heritage.
The minister said that the citizens would benefit from the mega national projects currently held in Egypt as they provide thousands of jobs.
She also pointed to the campaign that she launched with the second and third generation of Egyptians in Canada entitled "No place like my home .. Egypt" and urged them to spend their holidays in Egypt and post their photos on social media.
During the meeting, she touched on the successful organization of the 2019 African Nations Cup in Egypt.
