A massive fire broke out late Saturday evening in the old town of Villingen-Schwenningen, a city in the German state of Baden-Württemberg, causing extensive damage and injuries.

The blaze engulfed six buildings in the city’s historic center, with authorities confirming partial structural collapses in two of them.

Robert Friedrich, the local fire operations chief, stated on Sunday that while further collapses are not anticipated, the situation remains under close observation.

Police reports confirmed that four residents sustained minor injuries, while three firefighters were also hurt during the operation. Two were taken to the hospital, and one was treated at the scene. Approximately 100 emergency personnel were involved in containing the fire.

The financial damage is estimated to be in the millions of euros. The historic district, known for its well-preserved medieval architecture and popular tourist appeal, saw large clouds of smoke rising as flames spread from one balcony to several adjacent structures.
