Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly held a virtual meeting on Tuesday with his Sudanese counterpart Abdalla Hamdok on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD).

The Foreign Ministry said in a press statement that the meeting dealt with all aspects of the Ethiopian Dam.

Hamdok said he would contact Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed to discuss the possibility of returning to the negotiating table based on the approach taken in Washington.

The Egyptian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sameh Shoukry and his Sudanese counterpart as well as irrigation ministers, and the intelligence chiefs of the two countries were among the attendees.

It is noteworthy that the Sudanese Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources announced last Tuesday, that Sudan rejected Ethiopia’s proposal to sign a partial agreement on filling the GERD, which is expected to take place next July.
