French President Emmanuel Macron urged Israeli Prime Minister (PM) Benjamin Netanyahu for a permanent ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

This came during a phone call between both leaders on Wednesday.

Earlier, Macron condemned the bombing of civilian infrastructure in the Gaza Strip.

In press remarks, he also stressed that France will continue to work on a two-state solution.

Last week, French President said Israel must stop killing babies and women in Gaza.

In an exclusive interview with BBC at the Élysée Palace, he said there was "no justification" for the bombing, saying a ceasefire would benefit Israel.

While recognising Israel's right to protect itself, "we do urge them to stop this bombing" in Gaza, he said.
