On Monday, French President Emmanuel Macron said the European Union is not at war with Russia.

"As Europeans, we are working to preserve Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity in order to restore peace to our continent," Macron said before the European Parliament, in Strasbourg, on the occasion of Europe Day.

He added that Ukraine alone can determine the terms of negotiations with Russia.

The French president stressed that the goal of facing Russia's unilateral decision to attack Ukraine is to end this war as quickly as possible and to do everything so that Ukraine can regain control of it.

Macron confirmed that freedom and hope for the future have the face of the EU, adding that they will continue to support Ukraine, its president, and all the Ukrainian people.
