On Thursday, French President Emmanuel Macron said that Ukraine's membership in NATO is not the most "likely" scenario.

He added that it will be necessary to give Kyiv "even more robust security guarantees given that it has been attacked by Russia."

He also commented on the objectives of the Russians in Ukraine: “What the Russians have been asking for from the very beginning is surrender, not peace."

The French President highlighted: "The priority today is to defend Ukraine, that's what we've been doing since day one", adding the importance of "stopping the bombing" of Ukrainian infrastructure.

In the same context, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Wednesday, that Ukraine is steadfast and will never surrender.

In his word before US Congress, Zelenesky referred to the steadfastness of his soldiers in the city of Bakhmut, which has been witnessing fierce fighting since last May.

Moreover, he added that the Russian forces used "primitive tactics that destroyed cities and unleashed a barrage of tyranny."

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky left Kyiv on Wednesday for the United States, on an official visit.
