France’s President Emmanuel Macron is seeking an additional 6 million euros to deliver grain from Ukraine to Yemen and Sudan as part of the World Food Programme.

"Weaker countries should not pay the price of a war they do not want," Macron said in a video message on Twitter on Saturday.

This came on the occasion of the "Holodomer", a famine caused by then-Soviet dictator Joseph Stalin deliberately in Ukraine in 1933.

The famine killed up to four million people at that time.

Macron mentioned that Russia's war of aggression against Ukraine is exacerbating the destabilization of the supply chain and threatening the world with a food crisis.

He explained that France decided to show solidarity with these poor countries, following what Ukraine did.
