Luxembourg's H.R.H. Grand Duke Henri received Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry on Monday, according to the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ahmed Hafez.

During their meeting on the sidelines of the ninth summit of the EU-Egypt Association Council, the two officials exchanged their views on issues of common interest and committed to further strengthening bilateral cooperation, Hafez said.

The spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted that Shoukry and Henri discussed Egypt’s preparation to host the summit UN Climate Change Conference 2022 (COP27) that will take place in November in Sharm El-Sheikh.

They also held a discussion on the latest developments in the global world food crisis as a result of the ongoing war in Ukraine. Also in this respect, Egypt's FM affirmed the importance of increasing support given to Egypt to face this crucial challenge.

Moreover, Shoukry affirmed the importance of enhancing their bilateral cooperation, especially in the energy sector as Egypt aims to become a regional energy hub, referring to his state’s ambitious plans for a green transition.

"Both officials reviewed the latest regional developments like the Palestinian question in light of the consensus of visions between Cairo, and the EU," said the spokesman.
