Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku has returned to Napoli’s first-team setup following the resolution of his dispute with head coach Antonio Conte, according to his agent Federico Pastorello.
Napoli had previously decided to suspend Lukaku and fine him after the forward failed to return to the club during the March international break, remaining in Belgium without permission from the club.
The situation led to tensions between the player and the coaching staff.
Speaking to Football Italia, Pastorello confirmed that relations between the two sides have now improved.
He said both Lukaku and Conte are highly passionate about football, adding that a previously planned meeting between them in April was not the right moment for reconciliation, but has now taken place.
Pastorello also confirmed that Lukaku has rejoined Napoli’s squad and will resume full training after completing an individual conditioning period in Belgium aimed at improving his fitness.
He added that the final decision regarding the player’s involvement will rest with Conte.
The striker had spent over a month in Antwerp working separately on his physical condition before briefly returning to Naples in late April for talks with club officials, alongside his agent.
However, he did not meet Conte at that time, which had contributed to the tension between both sides.
With the dispute now settled, Lukaku is expected to be reintegrated into the squad as Napoli continue preparations for the final phase of the season.
