The Premier League's Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) approved the validity of the goal scored by Liverpool winger Luis Diaz against Tottenham.

Tottenham defeated Liverpool 2-1 in the 7th round of the English Premier League. A goal by Diaz was canceled after a magic pass from Mo Salah, due to offside by a decision from the flag referee.

The PGMOL committee admitted in an official statement that a human error had occurred during the first half of the Tottenham Hotspur match against Liverpool by not awarding a valid goal to Luis Diaz.

It added: "Luis Diaz's goal was ruled out for offside by the match referees. This was a clear and factual error and the goal was supposed to be awarded through VAR intervention. However, VAR failed to intervene."

The statement continued: “The PGMOL Committee will conduct a full review of the circumstances that led to this human error, and will immediately contact Liverpool to acknowledge the error.”
