Galaxy were ahead of the game after scoring two early goals by Joseph Paintsil and Dejan Joveljić.
After 30 minutes, Red Bulls attempted to gain control, and their Sean Nealis scored the first for the visitors.
The two sides traded chances in the second half, but their attempts were dust in the wind.
The game ended with 2-1 for the hosts who celebrated the title in the field.
