Liverpool FC will host Paris Saint-Germain tonight in the second leg of their UEFA Champions League quarterfinal at Anfield, with kickoff set for 9:00 PM.

The English side is aiming to overturn a 2-0 deficit from the first leg at Parc des Princes.

Historically, Paris Saint-Germain hold a slight edge in knockout encounters between the two clubs.

The French side eliminated Liverpool in the 1996–97 European Cup Winners’ Cup semi-finals and again knocked them out on penalties in the Round of 16 in last season’s Champions League.

Despite the difficult task, Liverpool have a strong record at this stage of the competition, winning six of their last eight quarterfinal matches.

The club is also targeting a record 13th Champions League semi-final appearance, which would see them surpass Manchester United as the most successful English team in reaching this stage.

At Anfield, Liverpool have been particularly dominant against French opposition, recording 14 wins in 18 European home matches, along with one draw and three defeats. Their most recent home loss against a French side came against PSG last season.

On the other hand, Paris Saint-Germain arrive in confident form, having won their last four two-legged knockout ties against English clubs.

The French champions have recently eliminated teams such as Aston Villa, Arsenal, and Chelsea in European competition.

PSG are also aiming to reach the Champions League semi-finals for a third consecutive season, which would be a historic achievement for French football.

The club has lost only once in its last 11 European matches against English opposition, winning eight and drawing two.

Additionally, PSG have successfully progressed in eight of their last 11 knockout ties after winning the first leg by at least two goals, highlighting their strong position heading into the return match.
