Liverpool, featuring Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, will face a tough away test against Galatasaray on Tuesday evening in the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 at RAMS Park in Istanbul.
Galatasaray reached the knockout stage for the first time since the 2013–2014 season, finishing 20th in the league phase with 10 points.
The Turkish side secured their place in the Round of 16 after an intense playoff tie against Juventus, winning 7–5 on aggregate across the two matches.
Meanwhile, Liverpool advanced to this stage following an impressive performance in the league phase.
The English side finished third in the standings after winning six of their eight matches, marking their 13th appearance in the Champions League Round of 16.
The two teams already met earlier in this season’s league phase, where Galatasaray claimed a 1–0 victory over Liverpool thanks to a penalty converted by Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.
Liverpool will now be aiming to take revenge in Istanbul and secure a positive result ahead of the decisive second leg.
