Liverpool have announced the sacking of head coach Arne Slot following a disappointing defence of the Premier League title, just 12 months after he guided the club to glory.
In an official statement, the club confirmed Slot’s immediate departure, saying: “Liverpool FC can confirm Arne Slot is to depart his role as head coach with immediate effect and that the process to appoint a successor is under way. He leaves with a Premier League title to his name and our deepest gratitude and appreciation.”
Slot, who replaced Jürgen Klopp at Anfield, had initially delivered success by leading Liverpool to a record-equalling 20th league title in his first season in charge.
However, the following campaign proved turbulent, with reports highlighting a major downturn in form alongside emotional challenges within the squad after the tragic death of forward Diogo Jota.
Liverpool are now searching for a new manager, with several candidates reportedly under strong consideration as the club prepares for a major rebuild ahead of the next season.
