Liverpool celebrated the contribution of Egyptian star Mohamed Salah to the Premier League with a special ceremony during the team's 3-1 win over Newcastle United in the third round of the competition.
Salah reached the milestone of 200 goal involvements (goals and assists) in the Premier League, becoming the second-fastest player to do so for a single club. He is only behind Thierry Henry, who reached the mark in 206 appearances for Arsenal, compared to Salah's 223 appearances for Liverpool.
The club celebrated Salah by having the players wear shirts with his image and the words "200 Premier League goals". A special video was also shown on the stadium's big screen, featuring Salah's best goals for Liverpool.
Salah scored two goals in the match, which took his tally to 104 goals in 163 appearances for the Reds.
"I am very happy to score two goals today, and I want to thank my teammates for their continued support," Salah said after the match. "I am very proud of my contribution to Liverpool's history."
"It was a dream for me to play in the Premier League, and I am very happy that I was able to achieve so many goals here."
Salah is considered one of the most important players in Liverpool's history, having contributed to the team's winning of many trophies, most notably the Premier League title in the 2019-20 season and the Champions League title in the 2018-19 season.
