James Milner's extra time penalty earned Liverpool a dramatic win over in-form Leicester City and maintained his  team's flawless start to the Premier League season.

Leicester City appeared to be on course for a hard-earned point against Liverpool that would break The Reds' winning streak after James Maddison's low finish 10 minutes from time equalized Sadio Mane's 40th-minute strike.

It wasn't until a communication error between Leicester keeper Kasper Schmeichel and substitute Marc Albrighton ended with the Albrighton taking down Mane.

The penalty was awarded after consultation with the video assistant referee (VAR) and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp celebrated wildly as Rodgers turned away in fear.

However, Liverpool suffered a huge scare as Mohamed Salah has been forced off through injury after he ended up on a receiving end of a forceful challenge from Hamza Choudhury and left in a heap in the closing stages.

He eventually got back to his feet but seemed to be in some discomfort before signalling to the bench he was unable to continue.

The result moved Liverpool eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table via their eighth win from their opening eight games, as they await the result of Manchester City's match against Wolverhampton.

Earlier today, Brighton & Hove Albion upset Tottenham Hotspur 3-0 as the Spurs continued their run of bad form. To make thing worse, Tottenham's Hugo Lloris, was stretchered off after falling heavily on his arm in conceding Brighton's third-minute opener to Neal Maupay.

The Frenchman who conceded seven goals to Bayern Munich in the Champions League, dropped Pascal Gross's cross straight into the path of the striker who scored from a yard out. In his desperation, Lloris landed badly and was carried off, receiving oxygen.
