Lithuania (men) and the Netherlands (women) won the FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup 2025 on September 7.
The men’s side of the tournament came down to the Baltic Derby between Latvia and Lithuania. It was the Lithuanian side that came out on top this time in a 21 - 17 blockbuster. Ignas Vaitkus was the go-to scorer for his side in the all-important game, putting up 8 points to lead Lithuania to their first-ever FIBA 3x3 Europe Cup title.
On the women’s side of the bracket, the Dutch women showed just why they’re the World Cup winners. They dominated all the way through to the final where it was business as usual yet again against Azerbaijan. Led by Noortje Driessen, who was once again stellar in the final with an 11-point outburst, the Dutch secured a 21 - 16 win to pair their World title with the European crown.
In the third place games, Italy came away with a win after a thrilling 22 - 15 victory against Germany. The Italians, in their first Europe Cup appearance since 2016, defied the odds and made it all the way to a coveted place on the podium. It was a scintillating performance from Raphael Gaspardo once again as his 13 points paved the way for a medaling win for Italy.
On the women’s side, Spain defeated France 21 - 15 in a marquee clash for the third place. Ygueravide put up a team-high 8 points to close out another successful run for España in the tournament.
On the men’s side, Ignas Vaitkus was the engine for Lithuania. He was at the heart of their success all the way, not just through his offensive ability but in being the physical presence and defensive powerhouse that led to them winning the title in Copenhagen. He would earn MVP honors in the tournament and would lead the men’s Team of the Tournament. Nauris Miezis (Latvia) and Raphael Gaspardo (Italy) would join him in the elusive list, both of whom led their nations to coveted podium spots.
For the women, it was the undeniable Noortje Driessen who stood out as the star of the show. The Dutch star was on fire, notching a tournament-high 49 points, 11 of them coming in the final against Azerbaijan. She would earn MVP plaudits yet again, adding on to her MVP run at the World Cup a few months ago. She would be joined by Arica Carter (Azerbaijan) and Sandra Ygueravide (Spain) in the women’s team of the tournament, who delivered huge performances and played key roles in their nation’s medal-winning runs.
