Lionel Messi Reaches 400 Assists

Lionel Messi continues to rewrite football history, as he guided Inter Miami to a dominant 4-0 victory over Nashville in the MLS playoffs early Sunday morning. 

The win marks a milestone for the Florida-based club, which advances past the Round of 16 for the first time in its history, setting up a clash against FC Cincinnati in the next round.

Inter Miami’s goals came from Lionel Messi (two goals) and Tadeo Allende (two goals), scored in the 10th, 39th, 73rd, and 76th minutes of the match, leaving Nashville unable to respond to the attacking pressure.

In addition to the victory, the night carried historic significance, as Messi became the first player in football history to record 400 assists.

With the latest contributions, Messi has now reached 1,294 total goal involvements across his career (goals + assists) for club and country, spanning Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, Inter Miami, and the Argentine national team.

Messi’s personal goal tally now stands at 894 career goals. He has also widened his lead over Cristiano Ronaldo in the ranking of most open-play goals (excluding penalties), with 782 goals, compared to Ronaldo’s 773.
