Ligue 1 Opens with PSG's 1-0 Win over Mostafa Mohamed's Nantes

French champions Paris Saint-Germain opened the new season of Ligue 1 with a narrow 1-0 victory over Nantes, the side featuring Egyptian forward Mostafa Mohamed, on Sunday evening at La Beaujoire Stadium.

The decisive moment came in the 67th minute, when Portuguese midfielder Vitinha found the net to secure all three points for PSG in their opening league fixture.

The Parisian giants entered the clash riding a wave of confidence, having lifted the UEFA Super Cup for the first time in their history last Wednesday. 

PSG defeated Tottenham Hotspur 4-3 on penalties at Udinese’s Stadio Friuli after staging a remarkable comeback from 2-0 down to draw level in dramatic fashion.

That triumph marked PSG’s fifth trophy of 2025, adding to their domestic treble—Ligue 1, Coupe de France, and Trophée des Champions—and the UEFA Champions League, where they demolished Inter Milan 5-0 in the Munich final.

Luis Enrique’s side now set their sights on an even bigger milestone: the Intercontinental Cup (Club World Confederations Cup), where they will represent Europe as Champions League holders. 

PSG are scheduled to play the final in Doha on December 17, 2025.
