Hendawy adds: Lighting design is one of the most important design elements that bring life to the designed places and spaces. Today we will give some critical information you need to know about lighting in order to create a space with visual comfort. Lighting design is important for setting the proper tone and changing the ambience of interior spaces. First, let me define the Lighting Design term itself. Lighting Design is Illuminating the activity on stage is one of the most major roles of lighting design. Lighting is required so that the audience can see what is going on clearly. Proven knowledge has shown that Indoor lighting has an impact on health and well-being in recent studies. A well-designed indoor lighting scheme may improve worker productivity while also making a great impression on any potential clients that visit your business.

Lighting design is totally different according to the space function and users’ requirements. It has different types based on its function. Let me briefly identify them.

*Ambient lighting

The most fundamental of the three types of lighting is ambient lighting, sometimes known as general lighting. It's the natural light coming in through the windows, as well as the lighting that replaces it. Chandeliers and other ceiling fixtures are examples of ambient lighting fixtures. This type of lighting design lights the whole space at the same level of light strength. It does not add any lighting effects or lighting moods to the space.

*Task Lighting

In a room with some ambient light, task lighting provides additional light for certain tasks. When it comes to spotting little objects or objects with low contrast, task lighting comes in handy. Task lighting for reading is also widely provided by the plug-in table and floor lamps. Task lighting goes for function spaces such as; Kitchens, Offices, Studying rooms, classes. Usually, we as designers use white light for task lighting because it is more effective than other lights.

*Accent Lighting

Accent lighting directs light toward a certain region or item. It's typically used to attract attention to artwork or other objects. Wall brackets, floodlights, recessed lights, torchère lamps, and track lighting are all examples of accent lighting. The accent lamp's stronger light adds visual appeal to rooms. This type of lighting design makes the Human’s eye focuses on a specific target, which the designer needs to highlight inside the space such as; art frames, mirrors, plants, and more. It could be down-light or up-light.

Overall, understanding indoor lighting types is very important for everyone. We have much more about lighting design, because as I mentioned lighting design is more than 50% of any designed place or space.
