Libya's Zueitina Oil Company managed to restart the first production well in Al-Sabah field after a 10-year hiatus, the National Oil Corporation announced in a statement on Saturday.
The production capacity of the "G18" well is about 600 bpd, which is transported by mobile tankers to the Zella field. "The first shipment of production will be transported, Sunday, and it is the first shipment to be transported since production stopped in 2015," according to the National Oil Corporation.
Production at the Sabah field stopped in 2015 after it was subjected to sabotage. Libya’s oil supplies have been volatile since the overthrow of former President Muammar Gaddafi, which led to a power vacuum more than a decade ago.
Recently, Libya's oil production rate has been recovering with the resumption of production in the fields.
