Libyan Doctor Kidnapped in Tripoli Released

The Libyan surgeon Sadiq bin Dallah, who was kidnapped in Tripoli was released on Sunday, five days of enforced disappearance, while the perpetrators are still at large.

The colleagues of bin Dallah, who is the head of the orthopedic surgery department at Al-Khadra Hospital in Tripoli, have demanded the Ministry of Interior and all relevant authorities to ensure his safe return.

On December 1st, the 66-year-old university professor was driving home on the ‘11 June road’ in Tripoli, before he was kidnapped by unidentified masked gunmen who took him to an unknown destination.

A massive campaign has been in solidarity with the kidnapped doctor, calling for his immediate release and for the perpetrators to be brought to justice.

Notably, Libyan National Army Commander Khalifa Haftar kicked off a visit today, Sunday, to Egypt, before heading to Paris later.

Libyan sources told SEE News that Haftar is expected to hold talks with Egyptian and French officials.

In the meantime, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi arrived Paris, Sunday, in an official visit to France where he will hold a summit with French Counterpart Emmanuel Macron on Monday.

Sisi and Macron will discuss bilateral relations and regional issues, most importantly Libya and East Mediterranean.
