Days after announcing plans to release a single featuring contributions from Liam Payne, who died earlier this month, musician Sam Pounds backtracked his decision and leaving the choice “to all family members.”
Pounds initially announced the release of “Do No Wrong” on October 26, scheduled for November 1, which would have been less than three weeks after Payne tragic death.
The producer returned to social media on Tuesday to announce his decision to hold off on the release of the track.
“Today I’m deciding to hold ‘Do No Wrong’ and leave those liberties up to all family members,” he wrote on social media. “I want all proceeds [to] go to a charity of their choosing (or however they desire).
“Even though we all love the song it’s not the time yet,” he added. “We are all still morning [sic] the passing of Liam, and I want the family to morn [sic] in peace and in prayer. We will all wait.”

On October 16, Payne shocked the globe following his tragic death after falling from the third floor of a hotel in the Palermo neighbourhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina.
He died from trauma and internal and external bleeding, according to an autopsy performed in the Argentine capital.
The Buenos Aires police told The Associated Press in a statement that his fall resulted in “extremely serious injuries.”
Medics confirmed his death on the spot, and an initial autopsy report showed he had cocaine in his system.
In a since-deleted post about the song on social media on Monday, Pounds wrote, “I pray that this will be a blessing to the world like Liam has always dreamed. I pray angels will comfort you all every day while listening.”
The producer added that he hoped the song would be “a blessing to Ruth, Bear and the entire family,” referencing Payne’s sister, Ruth, and his son, Bear.
The announcement followed a video Pounds posted of him with Payne that was shot by Payne’s sister.
He claimed in other videos that he and Payne “made some awesome and beautiful music together that will live on forever.”
Payne released only one solo album in his lifetime, "LP1", which came out in 2019.
A new single, “Teardrops,” came out in March. Payne had been teasing plans to release new music.
The status of the unreleased music, other than “Do No Wrong,” is currently unknown. The release of a Netflix series that featured Payne, titled "Building the Band", is on hold.
