Italian media reports indicate that Robert Lewandowski, striker of FC Barcelona, has expressed interest in joining AC Milan during the upcoming summer transfer window, as questions remain over his future with the Catalan side.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, representatives of the Polish forward recently contacted Milan’s management to initiate preliminary discussions.
The talks reportedly focused on understanding the club’s sporting project and financial plans, as part of exploring the possibility of a free transfer.
Sources suggest that Lewandowski views Milan as his preferred destination, ahead of other offers he has received.
These include interest from Chicago Fire FC in Major League Soccer, as well as approaches from clubs in the Saudi Pro League. However, the veteran striker is believed to favor continuing his career in European competition.
Lewandowski’s current contract with Barcelona is set to expire at the end of the season, and no agreement has yet been reached regarding a renewal. This situation places him on course to leave the club on a free transfer.
Milan, for their part, are evaluating the feasibility of signing the experienced forward despite his high salary demands.
The club sees potential value in securing a player of his caliber without a transfer fee, as part of efforts to strengthen their attacking line with proven experience.
At 37, Lewandowski remains determined to compete at the highest level in Europe. Meanwhile, Juventus FC are also monitoring developments, although Milan are currently considered the frontrunners to complete the deal.
