On Friday, German journalist Florian Plettenberg, reporter for Sky Sport Germany, confirmed that Polish striker Robert Lewandowski’s departure from Barcelona in January is now unlikely, while his future with the Catalan club remains uncertain as his contract approaches the end of the current season.
Barcelona’s management has not made any final decision regarding Lewandowski’s future, amid speculation that he could leave at the end of the season, especially as the club seeks to sign a prominent striker as his long-term replacement.
Meanwhile, the Sky journalist revealed that the 37-year-old player is considering retirement, which could disappoint clubs interested in him, such as AC Milan and several Saudi Pro League teams.
Despite this, Lewandowski is currently focused on leading Barcelona toward domestic and European titles this season, having regained his top form, particularly after scoring a hat-trick against Celta Vigo, bringing his tally to seven goals in La Liga this season.
