The General Directorate of "State Security" in Lebanon blamed the political community for not responding to the warnings issued by the agency, through which it was possible to avoid the disaster that struck Beirut port on 4 August.

"The blast neglected us from the inside but hit us at the core, in the heart of Beirut," National Information Agency said in a statement on the occasion of the 36th anniversary of the establishment of the Directorate.

“What pains us the most is the warnings and appeals of the newly created State Security Office in the port,” the State Security Directorate stated.

“The repeated reports about the presence of these explosive materials and their repercussions,” the State Security Directorate elaborated adding that this incident will remain in Lebanese history pages.

Government in Lebanon reported that the number of people killed in the explosion reached 190, while the number of wounded exceeded 6,500, and three people are still missing.

No official report has yet been issued explaining the circumstances that led to the explosion in Beirut port more than 50 days ago.
