A military court in Lebanon issued a ruling against a group of Lebanese citizens for crimes regarding dealing with Israel and obtaining the citizenship of the Hebrew state.

The court said in a statement that on Lebanese territory and abroad, and on a date that has not passed by time, the court condemned both George Abdullah Abu Eid, Sidi Tanios Abu Khair, Samira Hussein Suleiman, Sumaya Fares Judiyah, Mireille George Abu Eid (a minor), Elias George Abu Eid (a minor), Christian George Abu Eid (a minor), and Patrick George Abu Eid (a minor) on dealing with the Israeli enemy and obtaining Israeli citizenship.

The list of counts also includes entering the occupied Palestinian territories without the permission of the Lebanese government.

The verdict stipulated that the first, second, third, and fourth be sentenced to 15 years of hard labor, stripped them of their civil rights, and fined one million Lebanese pounds for each of them.

The ruling also criminalized and convicted the fifth, sixth, seventh, and eighth, and referred a copy of their files to the competent reference for minors.

On the other hand, the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon “UNIFIL” announced that it held an “extraordinary” tripartite meeting with senior officers in the Lebanese Armed Forces and the Israeli army (IDF).

The UNIFIL confirmed in a statement on Friday that the meeting was held yesterday, Thursday, at the United Nations site in Ras Naqoura, headed by the commander of the UN mission, Major General Stefano Del Col.

The statement explained that Del Col, during the meeting, touched on “the serious violations of the cessation of hostilities” between the two parties on the fourth, fifth, and sixth of last August.

Del Col warned that this “unprecedented level of escalation has serious repercussions on the cessation of hostilities between Israel and Lebanon, and therefore it is important that what had happened must be  considered as an isolated event and did not represent a new trend along the Blue Line.”
