Lavrov, Turkish FM Discuss Libya, Syria

On Tuesday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov received his Turkish Counterpart Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu.

During the meeting, they discussed issues of common concern, including the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the latest developments in Libya the Mediterranean, as well as the Syrian crisis.

At the outset of the meeting, Lavrov stressed that the situation should return to normal in the eastern Mediterranean.

He also noted that a political solution to the Libyan crisis should be reached with the participation of all parties.

Moreover, Lavrov said that Turkey and Russia's Military cooperation would not be affected by the US sanctions.

On his part, the Turkish FM claimed that Ankara aspires to achieve peace in Libya, but the Libyan National Army (LNA) is not inclined to this option.

Moreover, Cavusoglu proclaimed that Turkey supports political settlement in Syria.

Turkish top diplomate stressed that Turkey's relations with Russia are not an alternative to its ties with NATO and the European Union (EU), praising the strength of ties between Ankara and Moscow in 2020.

Concerning Coronavirus Pandemic, Cavusoglu announced that Turkey aims to produce Russia's COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik V domestically.
