Lavrov Lauds "Deep" Relations Btw. Egypt, Russia

Russia's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has hailed as “deep” relations between Egypt and Russia, pointing to directives by the political leadership in Moscow to enhance cooperation with all Arab countries Middle East countries.

The top and high-ranking Russian official explained that his country and Egypt have good and deep relations, which date back to the time when the Middle East and North Africa were fighting for their independence and the right to freely choose their development paths, according to Egypt's media.

"Our relations have seen their ups and downs, but they have now reached a level we have never seen in our history before."

"We are proud to have good relations and long-standing cooperation with Egypt and other Arab countries in the Medial east," he expressed.

In an interview with Egyptian television channel TeN TV, the Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov said: " Indeed, the cross-year of humanitarian cooperation was coordinated by the presidents of Russia and Egypt more than two years ago. We planned to hold it in 2020, but we had to move it to 2021 because of the pandemic. It was officially inaugurated in Cairo in June 2021."

"The agenda includes over a hundred various events, to be held in our two countries in the fields of culture, science, education, sport, tourism, and other humanitarian contacts," he added.

In addition, he revealed that a number of the Russian ministries in charge of these cooperation spheres – are involved in these events one way or another. Many of the planned events have been held and have attracted much attention from people in Russia and Egypt.
