Dr. Amr Shawky, an economist, hailed the recent launching of two smart parking projects in Cairo and Mansoura cities, noting that this represents a step toward universality.

He said that the two projects aim to reduce traffic congestion and maintain the aesthetic touch of the Egyptian roads.

Shawky added that establishing smart garages in Egypt is a real achievement that will positively affect people’s lives through reducing traffic congestion and waiting areas, in addition to ensuring cars safety and ending phenomenon of double-park.

"I expect that Roxy smart parking will greatly cause a huge increase in traffic flows in all streets surrounding Heliopolis, where there are a large number of commercial and population centers”. he noted.

How Does The Garage Work?

The entire process functions automatically; it takes up from 3 to 6 minutes.

The customers will be required to take a smart card before putting their car into an elevator. The elevator will then transport the car into the parking.

When it’s time to leave, the customers will use their card to pay the fees before inserting it into the designated slot so that the car will arrive in the elevator.

On the other hand, Shawky praised the Egyptians state’s role in providing safe roads to the public. He said that the Jabal al-Jalalah project in Ain Sukhna, which was implemented and supervised by the Armed Forces Engineering Authority, is a giant national development project.

It includes the establishment of the Jalalah City, the King Abdullah University and a tourist resort overlooking the Gulf of Suez in addition to al-Ayn al-Sokhna-al-Zaafaranah road.

Shawky also applauded the distinguished design of the Egyptian Long Live suspension bridge that links areas in northern and eastern Cairo with western Cairo is meant to streamline traffic and reduce commuting time also adds an aesthetic touch.

The bridge, which passes over the Nile River, enters Guinness World Records for being the widest flyover in the world at a width of 64.7 meters.

The economist called on the Egyptian people to preserve the achievements of mega road projects.

He also pointed out to the state’s role, represented in the municipal authorities, to maintain the roads system, especially the internal roads, draw up a plan to keep their aesthetic form and preserve them from deterioration.

The economist also urged the private and government companies to maintain these facilities, which were completed under the leadership of President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, and to promote initiatives and ideas capable of ensuring the continuity of mega-national projects.

It is worth mentioning that the state has recently paid great attention to the development of transport system and road networks, especially the main roads in Cairo and Upper Egypt, as well as the internal road network.
