Lamine Yamal to Be Sidelined with Injury for 3 to 4 Weeks

On Monday, Barcelona provided a medical update on Lamine Yamal, in addition to expressing the type of his injury.

In an official statement, Barcelona said that Yamal sustained a grade 1 to the anterior tibiofibular ligament in his right ankle.

He is expected to be out of action for 3 to 4 weeks.

Yamal sustained this injury after receiving a blow to the right ankle during the game against CD Leganés on Sunday. 

17-year-old Lamal became the youngest nominee for the Ballon d’Or when he made the top 30 nominees for the prize, and the youngest one to win Kopa award.

Yamal played a major role in Spain winning the Euro 2024 title, scoring a goal and making four assists.

He was also named the Best Young Player award in the tournament.

Yamal joins teammates Pedri and Gavi, who received the Kopa Award before.

Netherlands legend Ruud Gullit gave the award to Lamal.
