FC Barcelona announced on Friday that rising star Lamine Yamal has suffered a recurrence of his groin injury during Wednesday’s Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain, ruling him out of Sunday’s La Liga fixture against Sevilla.
In an official statement posted on X, the club said: “The discomfort in the pubic area that player Lamine Yamal has been experiencing has reappeared after the match against PSG. He will be out for the Sevilla game, and the estimated recovery time is 2-3 weeks."
The 17-year-old forward had only just returned to action in the recent league game against Real Sociedad after recovering from the same issue, but the setback forced him off again during Barcelona’s 2–1 defeat to PSG.
Yamal is also expected to be left out of Spain’s squad for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Georgia and Bulgaria.
Barcelona currently lead the La Liga table with 19 points from seven matches. The Catalan side face a tough test away to Sevilla on Sunday in Matchday 8 of the season.
