French superstar Kylian Mbappé has decided to temporarily suspend his participation in matches this season with Real Madrid in order to concentrate fully on regaining peak fitness ahead of the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup.

According to French journalist Antoine Simonot, Mbappé is determined not to take any risks with his physical condition.

“He is not at full fitness, and his main objective is to play in the World Cup with the French national team,” Simonot explained.

“After that come the commitments with Real Madrid in La Liga and the UEFA Champions League, so he did not want this situation to affect the end of the season or his chances in the global tournament.”

The report added that the player’s camp has confirmed he will not return to action until he is completely fit, as Mbappé is keen to avoid repeating the risk of playing while injured, something he has done repeatedly over the past two and a half months.

The French forward has been dealing with a sprain in his left knee suffered in December during a match against RC Celta de Vigo.

Despite the injury, Mbappé still featured in several matches, including games against Deportivo Alavés, CF Talavera de la Reina in the Copa del Rey, and Sevilla FC, as he attempted to match the record of Cristiano Ronaldo for the most goals scored by a Real Madrid player in a single season.
